The 2015 Victorian Country Championship was hosted at the Geelong Chess Club on October 17th and 18th, and saw 29 entries, in a spirit of friendly but keen competition.
The joint winners were Nigel Barrow and Khosrou Ghafouri (“KG”) on 5/6.
KG, who travelled all the way from Portland to compete, proved his credentials with a last round win over FIDE Master Simon Rutherford.
Geelong was well represented by Alistair Anderson and Barbaros Kara taking equal 3rd place on 4.5 /6.
Meanwhile Andrew Wemyss demonstrated his recent form to be no fluke, by taking out the Reserves Championship title scoring 4/6 – congratulations Andrew!
Well done also to Kevin Perrin and Nigel Barrow, in organising and running a great tournament.
