Geoff Barber and Zoran Babic have tied for first place in the 2016 Geelong Chess Club Championship, both winning their postponed matches.
Whereas Barber downed Michael Sugrue in a sudden tactical flurry, Babic applied steady pressure to inflict Owen Courtis’ only defeat. See the tournament page for overall placings.
Barber and Babic will now play off for the Championship, with two matches to be played on Friday 5th and 12th August. Members will also compete in the August Rapid Tournament during the playoff.
