Geelong Chess Club is not currently meeting, due to COVID-19 restrictions.
We have an online club on chess.com, on which we run Monday Blitz tournaments and weekly team matches against teams from around the world! The link to the club can be found here: https://www.chess.com/club/geelong-chess-club-online
Feel free to send a request to join; some information about who you are wouldn’t hurt!
We hope everyone is keeping safe and well in these difficult times.
Venue: Girl Guides Hall, 33 Myers St, Geelong.
What we’re up to: We usually have an open tournament running each week – play starts at 7:00pm Thursday evenings except for public holidays and a break over Christmas. Please see our Calendar or Contact Us for details. This is an excellent opportunity for keen players to test their mettle against other chess enthusiasts in a competitive tournament setting!
We also run a Saturday afternoon session running every Saturday except for public holidays, starting January 11, 2020 – if you have further enquiries, please confirm by contacting us. This is a typically relaxed atmosphere, great for new players and kids to come and have a casual game of chess or two!
Costs: Casual members can enjoy visits for $10/night ($5/night for juniors!)
For paid members, the rate is $5/night for adults and $2/night for juniors. Information on annual memberships can be found here.
(Please note: your first visit to the club is complimentary!)
On Saturday, the fee is $2 per player.
Players of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend!
Please also view and join in our Facebook Group for up to the minute updates.
